The Nautisk covers the news. Opinion is where we — and our contributors — go further. It is where a writer takes a position, makes an argument, and stands behind it with their name.
We do not tell our contributors what to think. We ask only that they think carefully, write honestly, and make a case worth reading. The compass is theirs. The direction is up to them.
Opinion pieces at The Nautisk are not endorsements of The Nautisk's editorial positions. Contributors speak for themselves. We publish perspectives that challenge, provoke, and illuminate — even when we do not agree with every word.
What we will not publish is work that misrepresents facts, attacks individuals without basis, or abandons the basic standards of honest argument. Opinion is a license to be bold. It is not a license to be careless.
If you have something to say — about a law that does not make sense, a market that rewards the wrong people, a health policy that is failing, or a political moment that demands a response — we want to hear from you.

Pitch us your ideaThe Nautisk Opinion section is open to contributors from all backgrounds. You do not need to be a professional journalist. You need to have a point of view, a clear argument, and the willingness to put your name on it.
We cover finance, law, healthcare, and politics — but Opinion is freeform. If your piece does not fit a neat category, that is fine. If it does not fit what everyone else is saying, even better.

Honest reasoning. Make your case with evidence and logic. We welcome bold takes. We do not publish misleading ones.
A length that fits the argument. Most Opinion pieces run between 600 and 1,200 words. Some need more. Do not pad. Do not cut what matters.
Your name on it. We publish named contributors only. Stand behind what you write.
A fresh angle. We are not looking for the take that has already been written a hundred times. Tell us something we have not heard.
Response time: We aim to respond to all pitches within 5 business days. Not every pitch will be accepted, but every one will be read.
A direct case for a position on a policy, decision, or issue. Clear, reasoned, and unafraid to take a side.
A longer, more exploratory piece that works through a complex idea without necessarily landing on a single answer.
A direct reply to something published elsewhere — a law, a ruling, a speech, or another piece of writing worth engaging with.
First-person experience that illuminates a larger issue. Your story, connected to a story everyone should understand.
A rigorous examination of an idea, institution, or policy — what is wrong with it, why it matters, and what should change.
A reasoned forecast about where something is heading — backed by evidence, not just instinct.
