The Nautisk is an independent journalism publication committed to accuracy, fairness, transparency, and accountability. These editorial standards govern how we report, write, edit, and publish all content on thenautisk.com. Every story we publish is held to these principles regardless of topic, source, or subject matter.
The Nautisk exists to make complex news in finance, law, healthcare, and politics accessible and understandable to everyone. We believe that an informed public is essential to a functioning democracy and that quality journalism should not require a law degree or a Bloomberg terminal to understand. Our mission is achieved when news is not just accessible but genuinely understandable.
Accuracy is the foundation of everything we publish. Before any claim, fact, or figure is published it must be verified through at least one reliable source. Where possible we seek multiple independent sources to confirm information. We clearly distinguish between what is confirmed, what is alleged, and what is disputed. We do not publish rumors, speculation, or unverified claims as fact. If we are unable to verify something we will say so clearly or we will not publish it.
We are committed to presenting all sides of a story fairly and without prejudice. Individuals and organizations that are the subject of critical reporting will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. We do not misrepresent, selectively quote, or take statements out of context. We approach every subject with an open mind and let the facts guide our conclusions rather than the other way around.
The Nautisk maintains full editorial independence. Our editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of journalistic merit and public interest. We do not allow advertisers, sponsors, investors, sources, or any outside party to influence our editorial decisions. Our journalists and contributors are required to disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationships that could create a conflict of interest with any story they cover. Stories involving conflicts of interest will either be reassigned or the conflict will be disclosed to readers.
We identify our sources whenever possible and appropriate. Anonymous sourcing is used only when the information is of significant public interest, cannot be obtained through other means, and the source has a credible reason to remain anonymous that we have verified to the best of our ability. When we grant anonymity to a source we make every effort to independently corroborate their information through other means. We clearly attribute all information to its source and we do not plagiarize the work of other journalists or publications.
We take the protection of confidential sources seriously and consider it a core journalistic obligation. We will not reveal the identity of a source who has been granted confidentiality without their explicit permission. Journalists at The Nautisk are encouraged to use secure communication methods when dealing with sensitive sources. If you need to contact us securely please reach out via Signal or encrypted email.
The Nautisk clearly distinguishes between news reporting and opinion or commentary. News articles represent factual reporting based on verified information. Opinion pieces represent the views of the author and are clearly labeled as such. Editorial positions taken by The Nautisk as a publication are clearly identified as editorials. Reporters who cover a beat do not write opinion pieces on the same subjects they cover as news reporters.
The Nautisk does not currently carry advertising or sponsored content. If we introduce sponsored content in the future it will be clearly and prominently labeled as sponsored or paid partnership at the top of the content. Sponsored content will never be written or edited by our news staff and will never influence our independent editorial coverage.
The Nautisk uses artificial intelligence tools as part of its editorial production workflow. We are committed to full transparency about how and where AI is used, and we hold AI-assisted content to the same standards of accuracy, fairness, and editorial integrity as all other journalism we publish.

AI tools are never the final decision-maker. Every article published by The Nautisk is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human editor before it goes live. Editorial judgment — what to cover, how to frame it, what to include and what to leave out — remains entirely human.
AI-generated drafts are treated as a starting point, not a finished product. Facts, figures, quotes, and claims in every article are independently verified by our editorial team before publication. We do not publish AI output without human review.
Where AI tools have been used in the production of a specific article in a way that is material to how readers should evaluate that content, we will disclose this within the article itself.
We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, invent sources, generate fake statistics, or create content designed to deceive readers. Any AI-generated images used on this site are clearly labeled as illustrations and are never used to represent real events or real people without explicit disclosure.

All images and visual content published by The Nautisk must be properly licensed or owned by us. We do not alter images in ways that misrepresent reality. Composite images or illustrations will be clearly labeled as such. AI-generated illustrations used as article artwork are labeled as illustrations and are not used to represent real events or real people without clear disclosure.
The Nautisk's social media accounts represent the publication and are held to the same standards of accuracy and fairness as our published journalism. We do not share unverified information on social media even when breaking news pressure is high. We will promptly correct errors made on social media with the same transparency we apply to corrections on the site.
The Nautisk is committed to covering the full diversity of communities and perspectives in our journalism. We actively seek out voices and stories that are underrepresented in mainstream coverage. We are aware of the potential for bias in language and framing and we work continuously to identify and address it in our reporting.
We hold ourselves to the same standards of accountability that we apply to the subjects of our reporting. We welcome feedback from readers, sources, and the public about our journalism.
