Corrections Policy

Last updated June 26, 2026

The Nautisk is committed to accuracy in everything we publish. When we make mistakes we correct them promptly, transparently, and without attempting to minimize or obscure the error. This policy explains how we handle corrections, clarifications, and updates to published content — including content produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools.

1. Our commitment

Getting the facts right is the most fundamental obligation of journalism. When we fall short of that standard we owe it to our readers, our sources, and the subjects of our reporting to set the record straight as quickly and clearly as possible. We do not delete articles or silently edit errors without acknowledgment. Every correction is documented and displayed prominently on the affected article.

2. Types of corrections

We distinguish between three types of post-publication changes:

3. How corrections are displayed

Corrections are displayed at the top of the affected article so readers encounter them before reading the content. The correction note includes the date the correction was made and a clear explanation of what was wrong and what the correct information is. We do not simply remove or overwrite incorrect information without acknowledging that a change was made.

Example correction format

Correction June 27, 2026 — An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 0.5 percentage points. The correct figure is 0.25 percentage points. We regret the error.

4. How to request a correction

If you believe The Nautisk has published inaccurate information, we want to hear from you. Please contact us at evan@thenautisk.com with the following information:

We will review all correction requests promptly and respond within 48 hours in most cases. If we determine that a correction is warranted we will publish it as quickly as possible.

5. Our review process

When we receive a correction request we review the original reporting, the sources used, and the information provided by the person requesting the correction. We may contact the original reporter, additional sources, or subject matter experts as part of our review. We make our determination based on the evidence available and the standards set out in our Editorial Standards policy. We do not issue corrections based on disagreement with our conclusions or editorial framing — only on demonstrated factual errors.

6. Corrections in AI-assisted content

The Nautisk uses AI tools as part of its editorial production process. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and verified by a human editor before publication. However, we recognize that AI tools can introduce errors — including hallucinated facts, incorrect figures, or inaccurate attributions — that may not always be caught during review.

AI-Related Corrections — Our Policy

Errors originating from AI-assisted production are subject to the same corrections policy as all other errors. We do not treat AI as an excuse for inaccuracy. Specifically:

Readers who suspect an article contains an AI-generated error — such as a fabricated quote, a statistic that cannot be verified, or a source that does not appear to exist — are encouraged to contact us immediately at evan@thenautisk.com. We take these reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

7. Social media corrections

If we have shared inaccurate information on our social media accounts we will post a correction on those same accounts with the same prominence as the original post. We will not simply delete incorrect social media posts without acknowledgment.

8. Serious errors

In cases where a serious error has significantly misrepresented a person, organization, or event, we may publish a standalone correction article in addition to correcting the original piece. In such cases we will also notify anyone who was significantly harmed by the error.

9. No unpublished corrections

We do not make silent corrections. Any factual change to a published article after its initial publication will be noted with a correction, clarification, or update label as appropriate. This applies to all content on the site regardless of when it was published or how it was produced.

10. Contact us

To request a correction or ask a question about our corrections process please contact us at evan@thenautisk.com. We take all correction requests seriously and we are grateful to readers who help us maintain the accuracy of our journalism.
